Nest 36 Scheduled To Host 2008 Bowling Tournament

The 70th Annual Polish Falcons of America National Adult Bowling Tournament, hosted by Nest 36, Southwestern Conn., will be held April 24-27, 2008, with bowling to take place April 25-26. This event is open to all Falcon members.

Bowling applications and information regarding entry fees and deadlines have been mailed to each Nest. The application deadline is February 29, 2008. If you have any questions, I can be reached by phone at 1-800-535-2071 or (724) 747-3179, or by e-mail.

The Tournament will take place at two locations. The Team event will be bowled at Amity Lanes in Woodbridge, Conn. Singles/Doubles will be held at Hamden Lanes in Hamden, Conn. Lodging information can be found below. When making your reservations, please mention “Polish Falcons Bowling Tournament” in order to get the special discounted rate.

The hotel we will be using is the Courtyard by Marriott, which is located at 780 Bridgeport Ave. in Shelton, Conn., and can be reached by phone at 1-800-321-2211. You may also go to sheltoncourtyard.com.

Reservations may be made now; the room cost is $99 per night plus tax. Please be sure to mention you are with the Polish Falcons of America.

Lodging, Travel, Times

The hotel is less than seven miles from the Nest 36 Club, located at 108 Danielczuk Drive in Ansonia, Conn. Travel from either Amity or Hamden lanes to the Club is about 20 minutes.

The Club has a side room that may be used for a Texas Hold’em tournament. Please keep in mind that both bowling establishments and the Club each have a liquor license, so no outside alcohol, drinks or food are permitted.

If you are flying in to this year’s Tournament, you should arrange to land at the Bradley Airport in Hartford, Conn.

The Team event will be bowled at Amity Lanes, which is about 17 minutes from the hotel. Singles/Doubles will be held at Hamden Lanes, an approximate 20-minute drive from the hotel.

There will be two squads both days at each bowling location. Amity Lanes has 24 lanes, so we will have the Team event at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Singles/Doubles will be held at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Hamden Lanes.

This will be the first time that a District V Nest will host a Polish Falcons of America National Bowling Tournament, and we at Nest 36 look forward to seeing you there!
