Recap, Results Of The 2007 PFA National Golf Tournament
By Pat Heineman, 2007 Tournament Chairperson
Nest 45, St. Louis, Mo., would like to thank everyone that attended the 39th Polish Falcons of America National Golf Tournament, which was held August 8-9. Even though we only had 85 golfers in attendance, and the region was experiencing a heat wave, a great time was had by all. 2008 National Golf Tournament Notes
By Trish Del Busse, 2008 Tournament Secretary
Nest 8, Pittsburgh, Pa., will be hosting the 2008 Polish Falcons of America National Golf Tournament, which will be the first time Nest 8 has hosted such an event. While this is a maiden voyage for Nest 8, many Nest 8 members were involved back in 2003 when Nest 118, Pittsburgh, Pa., was the host.
The dates for this event are August 14-15, 2008. (Mark those calendars!) Cedarbrook Golf Course has the privilege of the Falcons using their facilities. Cedarbrook has 36 holes, so participants will be there both days with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. For more information about this course, go to Cedarbrook’s Web site, which is located at cedarbrookgolfcourse.com.
Housing will be available at the Holiday Inn Express (host hotel) or the Hampton Inn. The rate for the Holiday Inn Express is $94, plus 14 percent tax. This includes a continental breakfast. There are three jacuzzi rooms available (for a rate of $125, plus 14 percent tax). The deadline for reservations is August 1, 2008. Call (412) 469-1900 and mention you are with the Polish Falcons of America.
The Hampton Inn is located close to the Holiday Inn Express. Its rate is $96, plus 14 percent tax. The phone number is (412) 650-1000. Once again, be sure to mention the Polish Falcons of America.
Both hotels are located in a very convenient section of Pittsburgh (West Mifflin) with restaurants, movie theaters, malls (simon.com), a bowling alley, an amusement park (kennywood.com) and a water park (sandcastlewaterpark.com) nearby. Then there is the city’s professional baseball team, and the famous strip district, hills, tunnels and bridges to sightsee!
Registration will be Wednesday, August 13, 2008, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. It will take approximately 30 minutes to get to the golf course and 15 minutes to get to the Sokol club from either hotel. (Thursday and Friday dinners will take place at the Sokols.) The Sokol club is located several blocks from Nest 8. Even though the Nest 8 Hall is not large enough to accommodate festivities for the Golf Tournament, the Club will be open and its members will be thrilled to see your happy faces sometime during the week. You are more than welcome to stop in, so please do.
We here at Nest 8 are looking forward to seeing all of you there.
