Minutes From The 2007 Adult Volleyball Tournament
By Steve Hoffman
Present at the year’s Captains Meeting were representatives from Nests 6, Buffalo, N.Y.; 8, Pittsburgh, Pa.; 31, Detroit, Mich.; 36, Southwestern Conn.; 79, Southgate, Mich.; 118, Pittsburgh, Pa.; 146, New Castle, Pa.; 176, Pittsburgh, Pa.; 564, La Porte, Ind.; and 907, Cicero, Ill.
It was requested that a break be given during the losers’ bracket of the double-elimination tournament. It was decided that, if requested, a 10-minute break could be given.
Dinner should be held a little later in the event, say 7 or 7:30 p.m.
Nest 31 and Nest 79 will co-host the Volleyball Tournament in 2008 sometime in March.
Knee pads will not be required.
No jewelry is to be worn. The exception is a ring that cannot come off and should be taped.
Ghost rule –– the position will be kept open but no points awarded.
Substitution rule –– rotate in back line –– man for man or woman for woman. Sub in only at service line. You do not have to sub in if you don’t want to (i.e., the Nest 8/176 team plays an entire game and the men take turns sitting out an entire game).
Sub in man for man –– structured only –– 3 substitutions for anyone.
You cannot jump teams. If you start with Team B, you must finish with Team B; you cannot go to Team A, C, D, etc.
If you are not included on the roster, you cannot play.
If you cannot make it to the Tournament on Friday night (round robin) you must be there and playing at the first game Saturday morning (finishing of round robin tournament). You cannot come just to play in the double-elimination tournament.
You must be 18 years of age (as of the date of the Tournament) to play.
Again, heartfelt thanks were extended to Druh Mark Albin as chairperson, and to all members of Nest 564, District VI and District XIII who helped make the tournament a success. All of us enjoyed the weekend and leave with fond memories.
