PA, NY Members Attend District IX LOH Luncheon

The 11th Annual District IX Legion of Honor Luncheon was held on Saturday, September 15. The event took place at the famous Polish Villa II in Buffalo, N.Y.

Legion of Honor Grand Master and District IX’s Legion Commander Louis Tremiti started the luncheon with introductions that included PFA National Secretary/Treasurer Timothy Kuzma and his wife Patricia, who drove up from Pittsburgh, Pa., to attend the event.

District IX Legion members and guests from Erie, Pa., and from New York’s Buffalo, Batavia and Rochester regions, enjoyed a family-style Polish dinner. The food was wonderful and the conversation endless. All too soon it was time for everyone in attendance to say “until next year.”

Results From This Year's District Golf Tournament

This year’s District IX Golf Tournament was hosted by Nest 74, Auburn, N.Y., on June 9 at the Lakeview Country Club in Owasco, N.Y.

Represented at the Tournament were Nests 123 and 610, Erie, Pa., Nest 493, Batavia, N.Y., Nest 52, Rochester, N.Y., and Nests 74 and 430, Auburn, N.Y. Richard Babiarz and Hank Noga served at co-chairs with Don Young and Nick Pingryn assisting at the course.
Following the Tournament, Nest 430 President Mary Rand and Nancy Sroka served appetizers to those in attendance with the awards dinner prepared by John and Cindy Curtin.

This year’s winners are as follows: Men’s Medalist, Richard Donohue (Nest 493); Women’s Medalist, Terri Noga-Starnick (430); Men’s Callaway under 65 years of age, Art Druzynski (52); Men’s Callaway over 65 years of age, Nick Pingryn (74); Women’s Callaway, Kristen Baginski (610); Men’s Longest Drive under 65 years of age, Richard Donohue (493); Men’s Longest Drive over 65 years of age, Richard Valahovic (610); Men’s Closest to the Pin, Lee Homyn (74); Women’s Closest to the Pin, Terri Noga-Starnick (430)

District IX Convention Recap

At the District IX Convention, which was held May 12 and hosted by Nest 123, Erie, Pa., the following Officers were elected:
President, Aurelia (Lee) Parks, Nest 52, Rochester, N.Y.; First Vice President, Edward T. Reszkowski, Nest 123, Erie, Pa.; Second Vice President, Joanne Tremiti, Nest 52; Recording Secretary, Audrey Druzynski (Cohen), Nest 52; Treasurer, Geraldine Wilson, Nest 52; and Youth Director, Eileen Skowronski, Nest 6, Buffalo, N.Y.

The following auditors were elected: Art Druzynski, Nest 52; Frank Wienczkowski, Nest 123; and James Schwartz, Nest 123.
The following members were elected as Bowling and Golf Commissioners: Art Streb, Nest 52, was elected as Male Bowling Commissioner and Becky Sienkiewicz, Nest 123, was elected elected as Female Bowling Commissioner. Nick Carter, Nest 493, Batavia, N.Y., was elected as Male Golf Commissioner and Kristen Baginski, Nest 610, Erie, Pa., was elected as Female Golf Commissioner.

In other District positions, Geraldine Wilson was elected as District IX Cultural Commissioner and Joanne Tremiti, Nest 52, was elected as District IX Ladies Commission Chair. Louis Tremiti, Nest 52, was elected District IX Legion of Honor, and Tony Pol Jr., Nest 610, was elected District IX National Director.
