Falconettes Organize Friendship Picnic

District VI’s Falconette Friendship Picnic was held on August 22 and hosted by the Falconettes of Nest 4, South Bend, Ind. Also attending were the Falconettes of Nest 80, South Bend, Ind., and Nest 564, La Porte, Ind. The theme of this year’s picnic was a “Garden Party,” and the guests were asked to dress in their garden party best. A buffet consisting of hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad and corn was served.
A variety of games were played, such as “Flower Scramble” and “Flower Bingo.” Prizes were awarded to the game winners from our flower garden. There were also prizes given out to members for best hats, among other things. A good time was had by all.

District VI Convention Recap

District VI’s 56th Bi-annual Convention was held on July 7 at the M.R. Falcons Nest 4, South Bend, Ind., Hall on 3212 Keller St.
Representing PFA National Headquarters from Pittsburgh, Pa., were President Wallace Zielinski and Secretary/Treasurer Timothy Kuzma. Other Officers present were District VI President Mary Pluta, National Second Vice President Robert Gorny, Convention Chairperson William Junk, co-Chair Natalie Cencelewski and Secretary Nancy Chiszar.
Delegates to the Falcon National Convention on July 16-20, 2008, will be elected at each Nest prior to the Convention. Z.B. Falcons Nest 80, South Bend, Ind., will host the next District Convention in 2009.
Elected to office were President Mary Pluta, First Vice President Henry Tschida Jr., Second Vice President Natalie Cencelewski, Recording Secretary Nancy Chiszar, Treasurer Caroline Runnion and Physical Instructress Ann Marie Frucci. Commissioners elected were Michelle Banks, Female Bowling Commissioner; William Junk, Male Bowling Commissioner; Peggy Markle, Female Golf Commissioner; Ross Kuzmicz, Male Golf Commissioner; and Don Walkowiak, Cultural Commissioner. Auditors elected were Norman Matuszak, Angie Pluta and Jane Strzelecki with Dean Zeisig and Michelle Hodowaniec were elected to serve as alternates.
Directors of each Nest are Geraldine Gorny of Nest 4, Eleanor Pianowski of Nest 80 and Adeline Macalka of Nest 564, La Porte, Ind. The keynote speaker was National President Druh Zielinski.
There was also a service held in memory of deceased District VI members, and a donation was made to the National Starzynski Scholarship Fund from the District VI Convention.
