State Representative Presents Flag During District Convention

By Frank Winters, Communications Director
During this year’s District VII Convention, which was held September 30 and hosted by Nest 163, Mocanaqua, Pa., one featured guest was Pennsylvania State Representative Karen Boback, who presented the District with an American flag that was flown for a day over the state’s Capitol building in Harrisburg. Nest 163 graciously accepted this gift, and the flag currently flies over the Nest 163 Club, which is located at 134 Main St. in Mocanaqua.

Pictured below are images of the District VII Convention and images of the Mocanaqua community that were taken by Second National Vice President Robert Gorny, who attended this event.

Nest 163 Member Excels In And Out Of The Classroom
By George Szatkowski Jr., Nest 163 President
Kristin Salzano, a member of Nest 163, Mocanaqua, Pa., recently pitched in on a Habitat for Humanity project that created a new single family home for a needy family. Kristen is a senior at Randolph High School in New Jersey, which is also home to Nest 163 President George Szatkowski Jr.

Kristin was accepted to seven different colleges and selected Virginia Tech as her fall destination. Academic success has long been important for Kristin. During her sophomore year of high school, the Army Corp. of Engineers ran a contest whose subject dealt with inventions. Kristin was part of a three-person team that created a “solar powered baby bottle.” The container utilized the sun to heat the milk instead of requiring a stove or microwave. Each of the team’s members was awarded a $2,000 U.S. savings bond for their ingenuity.
