South Bend Member Highlighted for Service

Theresa Liwosz, a Nest 4, South Bend, Ind., member, was recently featured in The South Bend Tribune for the volunteer work she has done in and around her community.

Although Druhna Liwosz, 80, has been retired 21 years, she remains busy as a community volunteer. Along with donating blood 80 times, she volunteers once a week at a local hospital, bags groceries to be delivered to the needy by the St. Vincent de Paul Society and is active at nearby St. Stanislaus/Holy Cross Catholic Church. She also visits the homebound to offer Communion.
Druhna Liwosz has been a Nest 4 member since 1966 and has participated in a number of Falcon bowling events for many years. She is also a member of the PFA Walking Program and has accumulated more than 5,000 miles.

Members Cool Off In Different Ways At Picnic

On July 9, Nest 4, South Bend, Ind., had its annual family picnic. It was a hot day, but the children cooled off by having a water balloon toss/fight. The adults cooled off by staying inside and listening to polka music and playing card games.
All in all, a good time was had by everyone in attendance.

Nest 4 Member Bowls 296 Game

Nest 4, South Bend, Ind., member Angie Pluta rolled a high game of 296 at the recently concluded 80th Annual Women’s State Championship Tournament held at Chippewa and Beacon Bowl.

Pluta described to The South Bend Tribune her feelings of this accomplishment as “awesome,” especially considering her high score could not be topped by the 819 other bowlers from across the state that participated during this three-month tournament.
The 296 game gave Pluta a 714 series in the 5-man competition, which was the 13th highest series of the tournament. Pluta’s 5-man team finished fourth in the competition with a handicapped score of 3,409.
Along with her 5-man team’s accomplishment, the 4-man team Pluta bowled with finished sixth in its division with a score of 2,723.
