Stop By For Monthly Roller Skate Outing
By Pat Krawczynski, Nest 652 President
Attention Nest 652 members: If any youth members would like to attend a monthly roller skating event, it takes place one Sunday a month from 1-4 p.m. at the Edru Roller Skating Arena. If your child is interested and is a member of the Falcons, please contact me for details of the event. Adults may also attend. I really would like to get the youth involved more with our Nest and I thought this would be a fun way to get acquainted.

Western Theme Featured At Nest 652 Anniversary
By Joyce Brennan, Nest 652 Recording Secretary
Nest 652, Lansing, Mich., recently celebrated its 92nd anniversary with a Western theme. Students Nicole Bartell and Justin Miller from Michigan State University’s Rodeo Club showed Nest 652 members in attendance how to rope a calf or bull.
After enjoying dinner and testing out their newfound roping skills, everyone took part in a variety of line-dances, polkas, obereks and waltzes. There was even a little bit of rock-n-roll thrown in, thanks to the music provided by Dick Henrich and his band.

Members Enjoy Hawk Island Outing
By Heather Havens, Nest 652 Member
On July 15, members of Nest 652, Lansing, Mich., held their first-ever picnic at Hawk Island Park. It was a beautiful day filled with great food and friends. Members played cards, fished and splashed in the nearby water park while John Krawczynski kept the little ones busy with his remote-controlled hot rods.
The day was enjoyed by all, and we have already set the date to meet together again next year. Next year’s picnic will be held on Sunday July 13, 2008. Please mark your calendars to join us for another summer day of fun!

Polish Items Showcased At Library
By Pat Krawczynski, Nest 652 President
Nest 652, Lansing, Mich., member Kris Reader recently contacted the Capitol Area District Library in downtown Lansing to see if we could set up an ethnic display in one of the library’s windows. They were so pleased with our request that the library offered us two display windows, one inside and one visible to those outside the building.

Some of the items Kris displayed in the windows, along with the help of friend Pam Dutcher, were the meaning of the Oplatki, the Wigilia and how it is celebrated, maps of Krakow’s Historic Town Center, a map of central Europe outlining Poland along with a description, a necklace of Polish Baltic Amber, a small history and samples of Polish pottery, Pisanki and its origin, the history of “Our Lady of Czestochowa”, Polish magazines, post cards and ethnic Polish dolls dressed in various costumes. Kris and Pam also used different Polish scarves to accent the items displayed.
The items were on display at the library for the entire month of May. A big “Thank You” to Kris and Pam for setting up such a fantastic display. Not only was it very colorful and eye-catching, but also it was very educational to those that saw the displays.
