Frank And Regina Sikora Enjoy 60 Years Of Marriage
By Frank Sikora, Nest 8, Pittsburgh, Pa.
It was a nice Saturday, November 8, 1947, in Natrona Heights, Pa., at the O.L.P.H. Church when Frank and Regina Sikora said “I do” and “We do!”
Then along came sons Frank, Bob and Jimmy. After 60 years, there are now eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. We’re very much in love and looking for many more great years. To celebrate, we will have a family dinner at nearby Calabria’s restaurant.
We are a 100-percent family of Falcons (Nest 8, Pittsburgh, Pa.), and we love our Polish heritage.

Brothers Prove To Be One-Wheel Wizards
By Sharon Parrish, For Nest 8, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Two brothers, Gregory and Adam Parrish of Swissvale, Pa., and Nest 8, Pittsburgh, Pa., members, won the overall North American Unicycling Racing Championship for their respective age groups at the North American Unicycling Convention and Championships (NAUCC) held July 27-August 1 in Saline, Mich.
Sponsored by the Unicycling Society of America, the NAUCC provides annual competition for unicyclists in artistic and racing events. This year’s competition attracted more than 250 competing unicyclists.
Gregory garnered first-place finishes in the 800m, 100m, 10m Slow Forward, Obstacle Course and High Jump events, and a third-place finish in the Long Jump to claim the North American overall championship in the 0-6 (16-inch wheel) male age group.
Adam garnered first-place finishes in the 800m, 100m, 50m One Foot, 10m Wheel Walking, Track Coasting, 10m Slow Backward, Obstacle Course and High Jump events, and finished second in the 10m Slow Forward and Long Jump to claim the North American overall championship in the 0-8 (20-inch wheel) male age group.
Gregory, age 4, is currently enrolled in kindergarten classes at Beulah Christian School in Churchill, Pa. He enjoys soccer, baseball and ice skating. Gregory has been riding a unicycle for 10 months.
Adam, age 8, will soon start third grade at St. Maurice Catholic School in Forest Hills, Pa. He enjoys soccer, baseball, running and playing the piano. Adam has been riding a unicycle for 1 1/2 years.
Gregory and Adam will seek consecutive North American Unicycling Racing Championship titles next summer at NAUCC 2008, which will be held in Rapid City, S.D.
The NAUCC is held annually in various locations around the country and fosters social interaction among unicyclists. This event provides athletic competition in artistic and racing events. The brothers ride locally with the Wonders Unicycle Club of Eighty Four, Pa.
The Unicycling Society of America promotes and fosters social and athletic interest in the sport of unicycling in North America and the rest of the world through membership, publications, the Internet, regional and national conventions and competitions, and the setting of standards for performance and competition. James Clark Finishes First On "Jeopardy!" Quiz Show
By Frank Winters, Communications Director
James Clark, a Nest 8, Pittsburgh, Pa., member, recently was a two-day champion on one of television’s most popular quiz shows.
During the May 22-24 broadcasts of “Jeopardy!,” Clark twice bested a pair of other contestants and came within one question of winning for a third time. “It was the most memorable experience of my life,” he said.

| James Clark. |
“Jeopardy!” is a game of trivia, covering topics such as history, literature, pop culture and science. During the game, three contestants select clues from a game board, each clue in the form of an answer, to which they must supply correct responses, with each response being in the form of a question.
Since the 1980s, “Jeopardy!” has been among the top-rated shows in syndication. In January of 2001, TV Guide ranked it second among the 50 greatest game shows of all time.
Clark’s journey to appear in front of a studio audience began in March of 2006 when he took an on-line test at the “Jeopardy!” Web site. Two months later, he received a call from producers to attend a contestant audition session on May 22 in Philadelphia, Pa. He was told at this audition that he could re-take the on-line test if he didn’t hear from the show within one year. (More than 30,000 people each year apply to be “Jeopardy!” contestants.)
On January 27, he got the call to come out to Hollywood, Calif.
Even though Clark’s shows were taped on February 19, he had to wait until May to see himself on television or tell anybody about his fortune. This is because “Jeopardy!” requires contestants to sign a form promising not to reveal taping results.
Describing the actual taping sessions as grueling, Clark said it was important for him not to dwell on his score but rather to focus on getting as many correct answers as possible. During the first taping, Clark was down as much as $9,000 behind the first-place contestant when he briefly reflected on Polish history and the resilience of Poles as they fought for their freedom from oppression and formed an independent government.
“Jeopardy!” does several tapings per day, and Clark said you got about 40 minutes in-between sessions to change clothes and relax. He added that the commercial breaks are much shorter in the studio than what you experience at your home. The studio is also a lot smaller than how it appears on television. “You are only about 10 to 15 feet away from the categories, with Alex to the right of you,” he said.
Even though Clark noted that the buzzer contestants use to answer questions was cumbersome and felt like a roll of quarters with two or three pennies taped to the roll’s top, he said it was more aggravating when you knew the answer to a question but another contestant buzzed in before you and gave a correct answer. He added that one difference between guessing answers at home and being part of the actual taping is that the competition element makes the game much more difficult but extremely exhilarating.
Having recently finished a graduate assistantship at Slippery Rock University, Clark is working toward getting a teaching certificate. He hopes to then begin a teaching career. Back in the summer of 2003, he had an apprenticeship at the Polish Falcons National Headquarters.
