It is that time of year again! Oh, you probably think I am thinking about Christmas, but no, not me. I am thinking about the PFA National Bowling Tournament. Nest 80, South Bend, Ind., is busy getting prepared for our 83rd Tournament. It will be held April 28-29, 2023. I have sent an email to each Team Captain from the 2022 Tournament. Hopefully all have received this information. If you haven’t bowled in our fun tournament, perhaps this could be the year you join us? We always look forward to seeing everyone.
Nest 80 has arranged accommodations for the bowlers. Rooms can be booked at Quality Inn & Suites, 4124 Lincoln Way W, South Bend, IN 46628 – Phone: 574-288-3800. Rooms are $99 per night. The second hotel is the LaQuinta Inn & Suites, 23040 Lincolnway W Hwy, South Bend, IN 46628 – Phone: 574-233-3131. Rooms are $99 per night. The LaQuinta Hotel is scheduled for a name change perhaps before the tournament. It will become the Best Western. If rooms are booked there, the reservations will transfer. Make sure you mention Polish Falcons to receive the correct room rate.
Now in regards to bowling…
Unfortunately, the cost of bowling this year had to be increased. If bowling in the team, singles, doubles and all events – the cost will be $80 per person. Per event the cost is $24 plus a charge of $5 for insurance.
Averages that should be used for the Tournament are the final averages from any league you bowled at least 21 games. If you did not bowl last year, then a bowling sheet showing 21 games before February 28, 2023 is acceptable. Last option, if you don’t bowl in a league but have bowled in a previous Falcon Tournament, you have a Falcon Average.
On Thursday, April 27, 2023, we will be having some pre-tournament fun. We will have a “9 Pin No Tap” Singles Tournament. It will begin at 6 p.m. at Chippewa Lanes. The cost is $25 per bowler and must be paid to Janet Knauber (so that I can have prize money to pay at the Tournament). Payment for the 9 Pin No Tap Tournament must be sent to Janet Knauber, 3276 Nickelby Drive, Shelby Twp, MI 48316.
Another important question I must ask, is there any Nest or District interested in hosting the 2024 National Tournament? Please contact me if interested.
