VP Trish: 2026 National Bowling Recap

April 29, 2026

Last weekend was the National Bowling Tournament held in Jackson, Michigan (Nest 336). What a wonderful weekend!!!

Great job by Nest 336 and the National Bowling Manager, Dave Andrychowski. This was Dave’s first event, and he did a wonderful job. All of us especially enjoyed the card game, where quite a few won some nice prizes.

As most of you know, the Host Nest chooses a charity, takes a collection from the bowlers, and then National Headquarters matches up to $500.00. Nest 336 chose Aware, Inc., which is a non-profit that strives to eliminate domestic and sexual violence while promoting social change and empowering survivors by offering shelter and services. Our Members are extremely generous and were so that day. The collected funds were $1026.00! Keep in mind, there were only 140 bowlers! The two women representing the group were so very pleased. Katherine Wrozek spoke to the bowlers about their organization prior to the collection.

The next day, Nest 336 did something extra. They had two representatives (Randy Coleman, Area Director) from the Special Olympics and a lovely young lady named April Marshal (Athlete Leader for Special Olympics Michigan Area 19). Again, a collection was taken and Nest 336 is going to match the first $500.00. I thought, oh boy, they aren’t going to get much! Well, was I wrong! Our Members came through again! This offering garnered $1050.00!!!

Thank you so very much to all of you! You all warmed my heart!

I had asked Dave if I could speak briefly and of course, he said yes. Well, they had Joe and Katie from Special Olympics speak first. Needless to say, I was just a bit emotional. My wish was to acknowledge those who have received scholarships and are still active. Hands were raised by the Starzynski recipients (quite a few). The Gorecki recipients were asked to come forward to be recognized. They were Mary Blessing (Nest 45), Christy Eshbaugh (Nest 8), Jill Stark (Nest 6), and her niece Danica Pruski (Nest 6). Danica is one of our recipients chosen this year. Pat Heineman (Nest 45) was also acknowledged as she kindly donates $120.00 every January!

Looking forward to seeing many of you at the National Golf Tournament in South Bend. Registration will open May 1.

Have a fabulous summer!

Czolem!
