The 57th National Golf Tournament Recap & Results
On August 7-8, 130 Falcon golfers traveled to South Bend, IN, for a few days of camaraderie, golf, good food, libations, reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and enjoying a typical Falcon Fraternal experience.
Thank you to Nest 4 for another great job as the host of a PFA National Event. There are too many names to list, so I will mention just a few with those of you who helped in any way, knowing that you are deeply appreciated for all your work (and smiles!) – Golf tournament co-chairs-Larry Szymanski & Bobby Joe Gorny, Kitchen Chair Michelle Banks, President, Tom Gooley, District VI President Mary Pluta and all of the others.
Yes, there were a few hiccups along the way but it all worked out.
The weather was co-operative, the folks at the Golf Courses-Gary Hegland, Jim Kubinski, Austin and Tammy were very nice and accommodating.
The rounds took a bit longer since there were so many but overall, the golfers enjoyed their play and the chats with friends.
A survey was given to each golfer to determine if there was a need to change the format of the event and the overwhelming response was to leave as is. The first day is an individual tournament with the second one being a doubles-scrambles.
The golfers were very generous with their donations – $850.00 was collected for the Casie Center (National is matching $500.00) and 915 pair of socks were donated. Thank you all tons!!!
A huge thank you to my personal tournament committee who helps with scoring, skins, cards and whatever else I may need. Traveling at their own expense are Ryan Wesolowski, Steve Wesolowski and Jeff Zary. John Nicpon comes with me and not only helps with tournament issues but puts up with me! While there, Mark Albin and Chuck Johns also helped. Thank you all of you!
Next year, Nest 610, Erie, PA will once again be our host. Greg Wieser is the Chair of the event and currently working on courses and housing. As soon as Greg receives confirmations, he will share with me and I will then forward all the information to you!
Each year, there are a few extra awards presented. The recipients this year are:
