Monument to be unveiled in September

September 6, 2024

There is no better place than The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, the spiritual capital of Polonia in the United States, for the Smolensk Disaster Commemoration Committee (SDCC), Inc., to erect the Monument to the Heroes of the Struggle for Poland’s Independence After 1944 – 45 and Solidarity. This new monument, which will be unveiled on September 22, 2024, will stand in the cemetery across the road and approximately in line with sculptor Andrzej Pitynski’s massive larger-than-life statue, the Hussar-Avenger, which commemorates the battles fought by Polish armed forces during World War II. The April 10, 2010, Smolensk Disaster Commemoration Monument (erected by the SDCC), the General Wladyslaw Anders Monument, and the Doomed Soldiers’ Monument (erected by the SDCC) are located near the place reserved for the new Monument to the Heroes of the Struggle for Poland’s Independence After 1944- 45 and Solidarity.
