VP Trish: District Golf Commissioners

July 30, 2021

When I left the office earlier in the week, I had received all but 30 of the waivers; this is great! Hopefully, the rest will arrive next week. When Jim Cox, Sr. of Nest 307, Southington, CT sent in his waiver, he included a National Golf Tournament rule book from 1977! What a cool surprise, thank you Jim!

Pretty funny how things change. This part amused me in a warped way – The General Chairman and Organization of the Local Committee: Personnel – The National Golf Chairman shall be appointed by the Officers and Directors of the National Headquarters. The membership of the National Committee including a percentage of women on said committee. Said percentage will be determined by the participation in previous years, and shall be appointed by National Headquarters.

Eventually the rule was that each District would elect one female and one male commissioner at their District Convention. Now, each District may have two, but gender does play a part. Earlier this year, the commissioners and I met via Zoom. We will meet a couple times a year to share ideas.

Currently the following are District Golf Commissioners:

  • District I – Ed Ciesla, Nest 946, Hillsborough, NJ
  • District II – Pat Heineman, Nest 45, St. Louis, MO
Jeff Beilfuss, Nest 907, Cicero, IL
  • District IV – Cheryl Paterni, Nest 8, Pittsburgh, PA
Steve Lubinski, Nest 146, New Castle, PA
  • District V – Jim Cox, Sr., Nest 307, Southington, CT
  • District VI – Bob Kuzmicz, Nest 80, South Bend, IN
  • District IX – Kristen Baginski, Nest 610, Erie, PA
Nick Carter, Nest 493, Batavia, NY
  • District XIII – Chuck Johns, Nest 86, Hamtramck, MI

Please pick up a backpack to donate. I have heard from quite a few who have purchased a backpack; this is wonderful!

Am back from the beach next week, so I will be sending an email to all the golfers with necessary information.

Be safe, have fun! Pretty soon!!!

Czolem!
