VP Trish: Golf Update

June 21, 2023

Last year at this time, we were in Geneva. This year, we are enjoying our swimming pool at home.

National Golf registration opened on June 1 and as of today, there are 56 golfers registered. (Last year, there were only 35 at this time!).

Thursday is a Singles Tournament; Friday is the day for the Scrambles Doubles event. Golfers will play with the same foursome both days!

July 15 is a very important date! This is the deadline for registration, as well as booking a hotel room. Please book your room and register as soon as is possible. Please call between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday) when booking your room. (I don’t know why, but I was asked to ask the golfers to do so.)

Visit polishfalcons.org/program/national-golf/ to register. The waiver is now part of the application. Just one form to fill out!

As part of our fraternal mission, we are asking golfers to please bring a backpack to donate. The state of New York still allows students to use their own backpacks.

Initially, backpacks were used for hiking. JanSport had their daypacks in the student sporting goods part of the bookstore at the University of Washington (again with hiking in mind). Prior to this, students carried their books clutched to their chests or tied together with a belt or strap (back in the old days, boys would offer to carry books for girls!).

So, WHY play golf???

• Great way to exercise
• Social sport
• You’re outside
• All ages and all abilities are able to play
• Golf requires focus and discipline
• Can improve your mental health
• A good excuse to travel and see new places

Golf helps one to escape daily life stresses, travel to amazing places, and stay active. And, it is another good reason to support local Nests and visit with other Falcons Members!

Czolem & FORE!
